Head Lice Remedy

I have been hearing about SO MANY cases of head lice in our local schools right now!

Did you know that the most common lice remedy is made with lindane?

Lindane's chemical name is gamma-hexachlorocyclohexane or benzene hexachloride (BHC). This is a hazardous pesticide that has been recommended by some experts to be banned! And yet, we put large amounts of it on our head where it is quickly absorbed by the body! But there is a home remedy head lice alternative....

Home remedy head lice blends can be easily made with essential oils. They are a non-toxic and safe alternative for getting rid of head lice as compared with traditional pharmaceutical solutions. Below is an easy and effective recipe to keep on hand.

As a preventative measure, you could also mix several drops of Melaleuca alterifolia in your children's every day shampoo.  It works great to help keep the little buggers away!
